Repairs & Rebuilds
Does a Leaking Shower Need a Repair or a Rebuild?
Understand how the failed layer—not just the visible symptom—determines whether maintenance, targeted work or a full shower rebuild is appropriate.

When surface work may be appropriate
Fresh grout or silicone can be appropriate maintenance when the waterproofing, support, base and drainage underneath are sound. The key is confirming that the issue is limited to the finish.
When the scope needs to reach deeper
Failed waterproofing, wet substrate, damaged framing, a moving base or a drainage fault cannot be repaired by renewing the visible joints. The affected layers need to be opened and rebuilt.
- Movement or cracking continues after previous surface work.
- Moisture has affected adjoining finishes or the room below.
- Tiles are loose, hollow or lifting.
- The shower base, falls or drainage details have failed.
Base the decision on evidence
Our visual visit discusses visible concerns and proposed rectification. For leaks, waterproofing failure or non-compliant construction, our minimum service is a complete shower rebuild.
